The peaceful evening in Irrel caught Rized having a cup of coffee,
black and very hot, as the best mate for the cigar he brought from his
third trip to the heavenly Havana, while enjoying an amazing 3-cushion
billiard match video; he had only tasted three or four small sips, when
the silence was suddenly broken by the surprising and strident sound of a
frightening thunder that caused an unexpected power failure that made him feel more lonely than ever.
Soon, the rain came along and Rized´s sadness was every time stronger
and more evident, while only a few cars could be seen from his soaked
window, looking at the dark, he decided to put on a woolen jacket his
daughter Rimsi had given him on her last visit to Germany two weeks ago.
The solitary night was attractive to Rized, it seemed always romantic, sad and peaceful, but especially mysterious.
He took his house´s keys from a nail on the kitchen wall and left for
the street in search of a pub where he could have a beer and cross some
words with a native of the town.
Due to the blackout, bars and taverns were closed and no people
wanted to be exposed to the cold and rain; Rized started walking
aimlessly, and saw a dim light coming from a near place; he walked by
this direction and there was an old man going out with a bottle of rum
in his hand.
The old man looked at Rized, he was chilling because of the cold
weather; the old man asked him if he wanted to taste the rum, but he
refused to accept because he thought the old man had a suspicious
appearance; his clothes were ragged and expelled a sweating smell; he
was also very tall and looked vigorous in spite of his evident
longevity.
“What is your name?”, Rized asked.
“Cezaw”, answered the old man, while taking a pebble out of his nauseating right boot.
But the old man did not ask any detail to Rized, he did not seem interested in knowing any personal issue about him.
- “Darkness is attractive”, Rized said.
- “Why do you think so?”, Cezaw replied.
- “Because it shows a feeling of loneliness and a sensation that you need nobody, Rized answered.
- “You live alone, according to your feelings”, Cezaw inquired.
- “Yeah, humans can manage on their own, there is no need to get involved with a couple to be happy”. Rized responded.
- “By the way, how can I find the cemetery?”, Rized asked.
- “I can join you if you want”, Cezaw replied with a stunning gaze.
- “Ok, show me the route".
- "Will you visit someone´s tumb?”, Cezaw asked.
- “I do not have anybody to pray for”, Rized responded, besides,
flowers and bouquets must be given when people are alive, the dead do
not feel, Rized added.
- “So, what will you do in the cemetery?”, Cezaw implied.
- “I should bury my feelings” Rized answered.
- “I guess it is impossible my dear foreigner”, Cezaw said.
- “What do you mean, old man?”, Rized told him while playing with his house´s keys around his index finger.
- “Your feelings are alive into your heart, and things should only be buried when they are dead, my inexperienced friend”.

"The little prince and the snake" by Maribel Mondragon
Once upon a time in the middle of the world, there was a big kingdom,
the kingdom of faraway land there lived a wise and kind Queen who was called Anastasia. The people who lived there were happy because they never had problems and always celebrated that the queen was reigning in that place. However, the queen herself was sad and worried because a
devilish snake had entered his son’s body by a damn that had thrown her husband, the previous king.
When Prince Arturo grew up, he thought, “It is because of me that my mother worried when I was a child." Moreover, one day, he left the palace when he was 18 years old. Wandering, he came to another kingdom. He found a desolate temple and started living there without food and a bed to sleep.
The King of that kingdom was cruel and he did not have a wife because she died when her daughter born. Nevertheless, he had a kind and beautiful daughter. The King was unhappy with his daughter because that girl was always ridiculing her father’s hard work. The King thought, “She is always talking to me low of my hard work. I must marry her to a beggar. Then she will know what hard work is."
Therefore, when the beggar Prince Arturo came to beg for food in the Palace, the cruel King Poseidon forced him to marry his daughter Ursula. Prince Arturo and his new bride Ursula started for the desolate temple. On their way, they stopped to take rest. Princess Ursula went around in search of food, while her husband went to sleep because he had a stomachache.
When Princess Ursula came back, she was shocked to see a snake sitting on her husband’s mouth. On a mount nearby sat another snake that observed the kingdom of faraway land all the time. They were talking among themselves. “Why do not you leave the body of Prince Arturo? He is so kind and gentle," said the snake sitting on the mound. “You too are evil! You attack passers-by. You should not be telling me what to do," replied the snake sitting on the mouth of Prince Arturo.
Princess Ursula killed both the snakes with all her courage and ended with the damn that had tormented Prince Arturo for so many years. When her husband woke up, she told him about the two snakes. The Prince Arturo was happy. Then he told her who he really was and why he was wandering in her father´s kingdom. She never thought that her husband was a beautiful prince. They set off to the Prince’s Arturo palace. The Queen Anastasia was delighted to see his son. When Queen Anastasia learned that the devilish snake was killed, his joy knew no bounds. The Prince Arturo and Princess Ursula lived happily for a long time. After few years, the Kingdom celebrated the day on which the Royal the couple gave birth to twins, one boy called Federico and one girl called Sophia.
From that day, when the king Poseidon came to the kingdom of faraway land to meet his grandchildren and saw the beauty of Queen Anastasia, he did not want to part with her, they formed a royal family in the great the palace and they all lived happily ever after.

"Steve's life" by Juan Carlos Tovar
A long time ago in the rural area of a big city called the great village, lived a boy named Steve, he lived in the village church, since he had been abandoned when he was just a baby. Steve was characterized as very happy and not let his past filled with sadness.
The great villa was characterized by the fact that all its inhabitants could use magic; the funny thing was that each inhabitant had their own type of magic, none was repeated.
Life in the church was hard for him since he was alone many times and there was not much to eat, most of the time. he fed on sweet potatoes, because almost no other fruits and food were given there and because of this the other products they were quite expensive.
One day Steve was playing in the woods, he was near to the church, he was on a tree when I heard some children screaming. He stood still watching what was happening.
He heard that they were a fight, three children were bothering a younger boy than them with brown hair and white skin. "You're good for nothing," said the bully boys,
"If you come close to our house again we will hit you harder" they continued insisting.
The boy was quiet and scared, he tried to arm himself with courage but when one of them saw that he was trying to move, he hit him on his face and said, "That happens to you for wanting to reveal yourself"
Seeing that, Steve cannot stand anymore and threw himself from the tree where he was; he told them “don’t hit him anymore or I'll punish you ". When the abusive boys saw that he was just a child, they break up! The leader exclaimed ... but look at yourself, you couldn't even got off the tree.
The other two abusers put themselves in a fighting position and showed their magical powers.
Show us what your magical power is! They exclaimed.
Steve, hearing these words, was shocked, since he had been looking for that magical power for a long time, but he had never found it.
Seeing this, the boys began to laugh and say. "If you see, I didn't think there were phenomena with bad luck in this town" ... "The poor loser has no magic power."
Steve exclaimed ... "I don't care if I don't have magic power, I can overthrow all three of you!”...
Steve was thrown at them to try to hit them, but the opponents dodged him and beat him with his magical powers and threw Steve in one blow.
"That happens to you for believing that without magic you can against us"
Steve was back on his feet and turned against them again, but unfortunately the bully beat him again.
"Don't insist," said the bully boys.
But Steve came back and stood up to attack them.
After about 6 times doing the same, the bully boys were almost exhausted from using almost all their magical power to attack Steve. Steve was also tired with bruises on his face and with little energy to get up.
Don't get up, they said ... Sure with the next blow, we will kill you.
Steve does not care, he stood up again and envied the bully boys with what was left of his strength, the bully boys already without magic power fell to the ground. After this, they ran away scared of the persistence of that young man.
Are you okay? Steve asked the boy...
Yes, he replied ... if it weren't for you they would have kept hitting me I thank you very much. But tell me why you stood up so many times instead of staying on the floor?
Life has taught me that we should not give up despite the circumstances that this gives us. I have learned that if we fight for our dreams, sometimes we are not born with the best capabilities to achieve our dream, but, we must give everything for this until we get it ... nothing is impossible if we fight for our dreams.
So, be strong and they don't bother you anymore
The boy smiled when he heard those motivating words.
But not only the child was the one who learned but also Steve since he gained more confidence in him to be able to continue fighting for what he wanted for his life.

"Love from another dimension" by Alejandra Tapasco
Can someone really believe that there are other dimensions? Amelie,
she was a beautiful girl of 20 years, a pianist by profession, she always
played the piano and taught, she lived in a beautiful mansion with her
stepmother Ema and although she had everything in her life as material
things she suffered abuse, her family died and had suffered a
disappointment in love.
Amelie locked in herself, the only thing that bring life was when she went to bed every night and she closed her eyes and traveled to another a world where she could live there in a small cabin near the sea, could touch the piano while looking out his window at nature and was so lonely.
One day, while she was sleeping in her dream, appeared a man named Henry who was attracted to her music but she immediately closed her connection and woke up, she did not want anyone enter to her life again even in dreams because she had a broken heart, so Amelie didn't want to return to the nights to do the exercise of traveling to her imaginary world.
One day Amelie decided to leave the mansion and with the fruit of her work she bought a small cabin in the mountains, it was a humble place but she was very happy, one day while she was playing piano a man knocked on her door introducing himself and saying that he was her new neighbor and, his name was Henry. She was surprised, she couldn't believe this situation because his name was like the man of the dream. She sharply thanked him and dismissed him rudely because she doesn't want again this man close to her.
Henry walked away sadly but he couldn't forget Amelie's beauty and the way that she played the piano, he was impressed and every day Henry approached Amelie's house to listen to her beautiful melodies from afar while he also left sunflowers at her door.
Amelie knew that Henry from afar listened to her music and that him was who left flowers at her door, so once she decided to go out and invite him to take a walk around her cabin and in this way Amelie and Henry began a love story. She talked to him about the trip to another dimension while she slept and they realized that their destiny was to be together and they were happy forever.

"A sad good-bye" by Adriana Martínez
The day was calm. One more Sunday for most. But without really knowing it, for them, it was a good-bye.
The sky was beautiful, and the weather made it a perfect day for a romantic date. She looked beautiful, the summer wind was good for her, although she hadn't changed much since they had last seen each other. He, on the other hand, looked more mature, the time in another city had changed him.
When they saw each other, their smiles expressed how much they had missed each other, but also that nostalgia in the environment. Things had not been easy and less when there was so much distance separating them, not only in kilometers.
She was at work, even when it wasn't fair; who would spend their weekend on it. Another thing that made them so different. While Elizabeth sacrificed her break time, Liam was on his way to have some fun with his friends. However, for the first time in a long time, they managed to match.
As soon as they were close, they hugged each other with all the time they had missed each other, and for a moment, everything felt as if at the beginning, as if they were only the two of them in the world. In spite of herself, the magic didn't last long. The friend who accompanied him, Mathew, interrupted them, reminding her that things were no longer the same.
- How have you been? – Mathew greeted her trying to fill the awkward silence he had created by separating them.
- Good. Happy to see you again – she kept to herself her discontent for not being able to have a private moment with him.
- It's also nice to see you again, Elizabeth - Liam pulled her back, hugging her in his arms.
The girl could smell his perfume, bringing memories to her mind. Her eyes crystallized as she whispered that she had missed him, without his friend listening to her.
- How is your job going? Why a Sunday? – he asked her as they separated again, and the feeling of emptiness returned to her.
- I have been assigned this turn. I can't refuse it; It's not exactly easy to get a job these days - she didn't tell him it was an extra turn she was taking to have more cash since her mother had gotten sick again.
For some reason, apart from the presence of the other boy, it didn't feel right to tell him that. The trust that long ago had made her confess all her secrets and problems, it was broken now. There was only a sad feeling for all the things she kept for herself, without telling him, even when it was what she really wanted to do.
- We're about to go to the cabins. How much break time do you have? – His voice was not the same as she remembered. Age began to accentuate in him. Another change she couldn’t perceive for distance.
- 10 minutes left – she whispered sadly. She wanted more time with him. Just a little more and so she could tell him everything she had been planning all morning. But she didn't feel able to do it. Even when her heart was shouting for her to do it.
- It's a shame. I wanted to spend more time with you before I left – he took her hand and looked into her eyes as he smiled at her.
How much she loved that smile. It was all she wanted to see. Everything that mattered. That feeling, hope, came back to her with his words.
- So do I. Maybe we can see each other when you come back. I'll be free at night – she replied, dedicating him one of her best smiles.
Maybe they could do it. She would try, put aside the doubts, lock the fear and throw the key into the sea. For once, she would allow herself to do what she wanted and not what she was supposed to do.
- I don't think you can Liam. Remember that we must go with your girlfriend to that party – his friend once again interrupted them. His words broke her again. She had suspected it, but he hadn't confirmed anything, until now.
Then she looked at him. He looked away from her and released her hand. It was true. It was late. He had given up, tired of waiting for her. He had found someone else. She tried not to break and replied with all the effort it took her not to break into tears in front of him.
- Oh, it's fine. It will be another time – she said as she smiled, hiding her emotions. She knew well that there would be no other occasion. That was the end.
- Yes. I'm sorry I didn't remember that party, Elizabeth – he seemed confused. He stepped back and looked at her strangely as if he had expected a different reaction.
- Don’t worry. There’s no problem – She wanted to run from there - I think I should go back - said Elizabeth as she checked her watch, her mind sending danger signals.
Liam seemed to want to say something else. But he did not. Instead, he just nodded and said goodbye.
- Good. It was good to see you Elizabeth. Take care. – something in his eyes, in his voice, made her feel like a little girl. As if she had lost something very valuable.
- You too Liam. Have a good time. - Elizabeth replied as she returned to the office.
The boy rode the motorcycle, accompanied by his friend and they left. As fast as he had come into his life, he was gone. There was nothing she could do to change it. She lost him.

Introduction to our Blog
This blog corresponds to the platform designed by group 22 of the course of English Literature. In this course, students learn not only language aspects such as vocabulary items, but also that language can be used for specific and aesthetic purposes. The course helps us to get familiar with the concepts of different kinds of literature such as poetry and narrative, that can improve our own writing, as students should be able to appreciate and apply these ideas.
On the other hand, English Literature can provide students with fresh and creative angles with which to approach their studies in particular and their lives in general. Therefore, in this space, we want to share some of our production works of narrative literature, where all the members of our group wrote a short fiction story following the steps and elements for a narrative story.
